Jeffery Honchell
Worship Pastor

“Praise The Lord! Sing to Him a new song, And His praise in the assembly of saints” Psalm 149:1 I believe God planted the desire to sing joyful praises in all of our hearts… but I think I went back for a second helping when He was handing out the desire for joyful praise and worship. I just love lifting praises to our Lord Jesus Christ in song. I’ve been told I often have a big smile on my face when I am leading in worship, but I don’t think I can sing praises about God or to God without getting excited. I have been blessed to serve in ministry for over 30 years, as a Worship Leader for Adult, Youth and Children’s ministries, as a guitar player, vocalist, actor in dramatic productions, Vacation Bible School leader, and even as a teacher of Evangelism and Discipleship. As much as I love music my greatest joys have come from the times I have been privileged to be a part of leading someone to a relationship with Christ as Lord of their life. There is nothing like seeing a life changed by coming to know Christ as Savior and Lord. Along my journey God equipped me with Godly parents to guide and support me and later with my Godly wife, Pamula to encourage and love me through life’s challenges. If this wasn’t enough, God blessed me even further with a loving church family at The Mission Church of Lexington. No matter where you are in your “journey” I know you’ll find The Mission Church is a place where you can become valuable part of God’s family and take your next spiritual step of obedience in following God’s plan for your life. I look forward to seeing you here.

Cheryl Walker
Mission Kids Director

Cheryl grew up in Virginia and moved to Kentucky later in life. She gave her life to the Lord at an early age. Her love for children began at an early age where she loved to help with children’s church and church camp. She believes that babies can learn about Jesus from birth. She has been involved in children’s ministry for over 18 years and has taught Sunday School and has helped with Vacation Bible School. Before becoming our Mission Kids Director, she served with her husband Dan as the Community Compassion Team Leaders where they enjoyed serving and giving back to others. That is one of their heart beats. Cheryl feels the Lord has led her in her next step of serving Him by serving as the Mission Kids Director. The Lord has given Cheryl and Dannie 4 children and 15 grandbabies, which are all blessings to them. Her life verse is Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.”
